HELLO.

I'm glad you're here.

Intro

I'm Yvette, an HPCSA Registered Counsellor in private practice based in
Cape Town, South Africa.
I offer in-person sessions from my centrally located counselling rooms
in Cape Town's City Bowl, as well as online sessions to accommodate your needs.
I support adults, young people, and parents through times of transition, emotional strain, or overwhelm, and provide counselling in both English and Afrikaans.

There are times when life's challenges can feel overwhelming — when the usual ways of coping aren’t enough, and it becomes harder to feel like ourselves. These moments aren’t failures; they’re signals that something needs attention. It’s in these times that seeking support can lead to meaningful change.

Whether you're facing relationship conflicts, unhelpful behavioural patterns, or adapting to life’s inevitable changes, counselling can provide focussed, short-term support to enhance your psychological wellbeing and restore personal balance.

Through self-enquiry, we gain valuable insights into the thoughts, emotions, and responses that shape our experiences, helping us build resilience and confidence to face future adversity.

If this resonates with you, perhaps it's time to start a conversation.  You're welcome to reach out for an introductory call.

APPROACH

MY APPROACH

Living a meaningful and satisfying life often comes down to the small, intentional choices we make each day. I believe counselling can be a space where those choices start to feel possible again — supported by insight, curiosity, and practical tools.

Grounded in developmental psychology, attachment theory, and cognitive behavioural frameworks, my counselling style is both reflective and active. I approach each client with genuine curiosity about the deeper motivations, patterns, and experiences that shape how we relate — both to others and to ourselves. Gaining clarity around these influences helps us make choices that align with our values and participate in our lives with greater purpose and intention.

Most of my work takes place within a focused timeframe (typically 4–12 sessions), with an emphasis on addressing current challenges while equipping you with sustainable tools for the future. We begin with a shared understanding of your goals, and we move forward collaboratively toward meaningful, realistic outcomes.

Here's what you can expect in our work together:

  • Practical tools and evidence-based techniques

  • A flexible, focused structure tailored to your needs

  • Warm, professional guidance that honours your individuality

Fostering a validating and supportive environment is at the heart of my practice. My aim is to offer support that is both professional and personable — a space where you feel deeply understood, respectfully challenged, and genuinely supported throughout our work together.

ABOUT ME

ABOUT ME

I began my career in the creative industries of music and design before moving into the fast-paced world of corporate fashion buying. Becoming a parent marked a turning point that brought new insights into identity, purpose, and the challenges we face as we balance multiple roles.

Over time, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for how our life circumstances, cultural heritage, difference, and diversity shape our sense of self and how we relate to the world. This curiosity about human behaviour led me to study psychology later in life, and today I draw on both professional skills and lived experience to support clients in ways that are thoughtful, practical, and firmly rooted in real life.

Outside of work, I value activities that help me slow down and connect with what’s meaningful and real—whether that’s time with people dear to me, spaces that inspire me, enjoying good food, or focusing on things that give my life purpose.
